The EF7 engine thermostat cover is made from AS9U3 aluminium by pressure die casting. Areas requiring machining are subsequently shaped by material removal.

The part has two sections. One accommodates the thermostat and is attached to the thermostat housing with three screws. The other is an elbow-shaped tube connected to the water-transfer hose.

Important areas are the thermostat seat and the mating surface on the housing. Leak tightness is also important.
